Companionship from midian Care

Companionship

Gives you the support you need to live independently, providing you, or a loved one, with the assistance of a Support Worker at times to suit your convenience.

Midian Care’s Companionship service gives you the support you need to live at home independently, providing you with the assistance of a carer at times to suit your convenience.

The comfort we feel in our home is like no other.  It’s the place that you feel most relaxed and happy.  However, as family members grow up and move in to their own homes, you may find your house isn’t as busy as it once was, and there aren’t as many people around to give you that extra hand when you need it.

Our companionship service is most suited to individuals who will benefit from having the reassurance that someone is there with them to offer support when it is needed.  It also provides peace of mind for family members who are unable to regularly visit, as they know their loved one is being cared for.

Our carers, who are carefully selected to match your personality and requirements, will provide company and conversation, as well as providing support with social activities.  Our companionship service is tailored to your requirements and can be adapted to meet your changing needs.  We arrange for you to meet your potential carer before commencing any service to ensure that you are happy.

Care designed around you, just for you!
Our typical services can include (but not limited to):
What is our Companionship service?
Your carer will spend time with you, whether that is spent sitting and chatting, looking through old family albums, watching television, or going out for short walks, they will be able to provide the company and reassurance that you need. Having someone to sit with may be just the thing you need to brighten up your day.
Daily routines
If you have trouble keeping track of what you need to do and when, your Carer can support you with your daily routine. They can provide you with reminders to do things, such as when to write Birthday cards, to feed the dog and many other useful things that help you to remain independent.
Day trips out
In addition to helping you with short day-to-day outings, your carer will be happy to accompany you on day trips, allowing you and your family to relax, safe in the knowledge that you are getting the personal attention you require whilst out on your trip.
Arranging travel or appointments
Whether you are planning a trip to a museum or a local park, our carers will support you whilst you are out of your home. They can also assist you with making travel arrangements and transporting mobility equipment, should you need it.
Looking after your pets
We can also provide ‘pet friendly’ carers who are more than happy to ensure your fury best friends are also looked after when you’re not able.
Social activities
Wherever possible, we will encourage you to engage in social activities. That may be to attend a local club, or to meet with friends for a chat and a cup of tea, your carer will be on hand to support you whenever needed.
Hobbies and exercise
We believe that age isn’t a barrier to adventure. We’ve had a huge amount of success in helping older people start something new. Many of our clients have taken up new hobbies such as learning to dance, play instruments, knit and cook specialist dishes. If there’s something new you’d like to start, or an old passion you’d like to revisit, we can match you to the right person to help you achieve this.
Religious activities
Going to places of religious worship or attending religious festivals or holidays
Attending doctor or hospital appointments with you
We can assist you with arranging transport or accompanying you to doctor or hospital appointments
Connecting digitally online with loved ones
We’re here to help you digitally communicate and connect with loved ones, if you’re unable to meet in person using Messenger, Facetime and other video communication apps even if you don’t have your own broadband.

Arranging support for a loved one?
Sometimes personal care can be quite an uncomfortable and demanding task for a close family member to carry out for a loved one, as it is a lot of responsibility, with some feeling awkward about a change in the relationship.

In these instances, it can be much easier to have a trained professional who is accustomed to supporting clients with personal care to come to your loved one’s house and step in.  Choosing a carer that your loved one is comfortable with is vital whether they are male, female, young, or old means that carer becomes a regular friendly face for your loved one to rely on whilst offering gentle encouragement and a little bit of extra support.
